Darker My Love in and on the LA Alternative

So first I will start out by explaining my supergeniousness. During our amazingly sweet California HEAT WAVE, I decided to schedule a shoot at 2:30 in the afternoon on Monday, in the middle of a mostly concrete river, when it was over 100 degrees. Tim, Andy, Jerod, Rob and Tony, you can thank me later. These shots were all shot for the Darker My Love cover story in the LA Alternative, music issue which is out today.. go get it!!

Ohhh snappp. Toni's definately representin'!!!

Now for the fun part.. this was right before i think i saw someone pooring drugs or ashes into the river.. oh but i digress
Here's our beautiful LA river.. these are some of my location scouting photos before the shoot, when it was only 99 degrees.

ahh so cute... i now only take bird photos, it's official.

Pirate rafts abound... aaarrrrrgghh matey!!

Need i say more?

So this is a metal box, that someone wants to build a floating house out of.. that has a little something written on it.

"It jsut might work, So please Don't Fuck it up!!"

"It will work, So Dont Fuck with it. Dont waste all of our time. Thanks-"

Totally Pooling Around

As long as I've lived in LA, I've only known a couple people with pools. And they always end up moving, bummmerrrrr... So during this insanely, ultra, super crazily hot as ever week I've been able to go swimming twice. And I've been happy as a clam with two pool weekends in a row. First weekend was the World Cup finals up at Michelle's parents place in Camarillo, and this weekend Christopher was gracious enough to have us over to his place for some insane waterball. There were ripped up feet, broken noses, bruised shins, broken nails, dead lizards, broken elbows, and old broken fingers, IT WAS GREAT!!!!

Warped version of tour Tour

Alarm magazine (check out the Eels cover, issue #23, wink wink), sent me to Warped Tour last week to shoot photos of Bouncing Souls.. Warped Tour now has their own mosh water brought to you by Monster and Cingular Wireless.... bitchinnnn..., It was luckily in the Dodger Stadium parking lot, 10 blocks away from our house, but I got there 4 hours early because unfortunately the WT doesn't post schedules so they can get everyone to show up for the whole show to get the ultimate barrage of as much ad views as possible. Now is when I stop stating the obvious. Needless to say I had a couple hours to wander around and I didn't think I was going to know anyone until I met up with John Cheese, George D., Kevin K., Saves the Day and all their peeps, had a beer, had a chat and relaxed a bit. I got my press time to meet up with Bouncing Souls and went to meet them not knowing what to expect. I met up with Greg and Bryan who were super nice and fun to hang out with on the bus, took a couple photos, Bryan did some bike riding outside, they proceeded to put on a great show, I took some live and group shots, (which will be in the magazine), took some pix of punk rock butt cracks, and got the hell outta there. Oh Warped Tour, where have you been all my life.

Brother Reade vs. Bad God

Oh damn!!! was this ever a stellar night. First of all Brother Reade played an instore at Sea Level Records(which is right down the street from a sweet liquor store that sells knives and religious stuff) and killed it. They even rocked some new joints and the pants off a couple people. I swear it. I have photos, but i don't wanna blog it all up with nudeness, nahh mean?? After the BR show who do I see outside but the one and only JP from Dios Malos all up in my mug. I will now give you the Frat/surfer version of our conversation. "So, I'm like, JP, Duuude!! Showing our livers what freedom feels like

I will start this with a quote that Alana just sent to me. "history is a perpetual virgin, endlessly and repeatedly deflowered by successive generations of fucking liars." On that note: Oh.. Cana...d.. damn woops... It was the 4th of July, national drink all day outside day. And we did. Well all night at least. The party was up at Steven's house on the hill. Fireworks were watched, food was grilled, beer and non-beer was consumed and fun was totally had.

115 Degree Mexicali Music Adventure

Sabertooth Tiger, God's Gang, and Coup D' Twat travelled down to Mexicali, Mexico to play a show on Saturday to kick off July. It was the hottest place I've ever been in my life, 115 degrees when we arrived at our buddy Marrrrrrrrco Verrrrrrrra's parents house at around 4:00 and it probably didn't get down below 100 until about 10pm, and yes, I bitched about how I was going to die or at least lose my vision the whole time. Michelle, Meital, Gina and Biehl came down from LA to sweat their asses off and to check out the show, along with a bunch of other folks... The show was at a place called La Casa de la Tia Tina Alternative Art & Music Space, it was in the coutyard behind this old house, and was slowly getting built back up by a bunch of really dedicated people, into a music and art space, and the sound for the show was amazing. It was a benefit for a community film center that Marco is putting together in Mexicali called La Rosa de Mexicali. Thanks to everyone who who made this show happen, I had a blast-ola. I would try to type something in Spanish, but i don't want to make a fool of myself.. ok just one.. tienes queso in su basura, es verdad. I'll put comments by the photos a bit later...
